944 brake caliper sticking

alright, so next week im replacing my 944's radiator, since i have it up i plan on taking a look at my driver side front brake caliper. ive noticed it sticks, and since my rotor is slightly warped, it causes a pretty good shake between 45 to 55 MPH then goes away until about 75MPH then comes back pretty bad. however i know its my caliper because it is never there when i go to work, (i only hit my brakes once for my 20 mile drive to work until it get into the town i work in) but is always there on my way back, (when i come home i have a lot of stop and go traffic before i get out of town and on the open road) and it slightly pulls to the left every time i have that shake but never pulls when the shake is gone. sometimes if i tap the brakes a couple times the shake will go away.... any advice on how to free up that caliper without it being costly?

Yeah, looks like you need to take off the wheel and look around at the caliper / rotor.

Hmmmm....old brake fluid may have corroded the cups....probably at all four corners. Lines that have failed internally will give the same symptoms.

Brakes are THE most important safety feature for you and those you share the road with..rebuild kits, a good flush would be my solution..

The caliper rebuild is easy and inexpensive. The money is in the pads and rotors.

There are no air bags or ABS on the old 944s so keeping brakes in top shape is a safety priority.

I had a bad case of "sticky brakes" after the brake disks and pads were replaced.
I started by greasing the sliding paths, but soon enough the problem came back, and got worse.
So I took the plunge, and opened up the brake cilinders, replaced all caps, cleaned out the cilinders, reinstalled everything, then refilled the whole system with with DOT4 fluid.
After that I had to bleed the whole system (don't forget the clutch, it uses the same reservoir!), and now the brakes are like new.
It's not as hard as it sounds really...
You can't believe what sort of dirt comes out of these cilinders....

Phaedra sounds right on.
By the way I think its great that safety keeps being mentioned in the brakes thread!! We can never be too obvious when it comes to safety!
