It wasn't 944Fest, but...

Our out-of-town guests arrived Friday, but none of the locals chose to camp out due to severe thunderstorms that evening. Saturday turned out to be a picture perfect day. My father-in-law made his famous biscuits-and-gravy (best you'll have north of the Mason-Dixon line) for our overnight guests, and then prepared "City Chicken" (bacon-wrapped veal and pork on skewers, battered and baked) along with home made cole slaw, fresh garden salad, bread from our local downtown Woodstock bakery, baked beans, home made four-berry cobbler, apple cobbler, and banana split cake. And of course, a variety of cold beverages.

Several of our guests were unable to bring their p-cars, but we did see an 87 951, and 86 951, a 92 968, and a 90 928 S4. Which was cool because we had the entire water-pumper lineup represented! Throughout the day, we had 18 guests come by, so I was really pleased with the turnout. Hoping for more p-cars at the next one, though.

We had a riot shooting the potato canon, going on polaris ride, bench racing, and went out for a number of back country drives in the vicinity. Several guests were treated to drives in the Cayman, and I was treated to drives in the 86 951 and 92 968. I was so busy entertaining, I never got a chance to get the camera out, so most the pix above were provided by our guests.

Looks like a good time. I love to see this type of small time gathering of like minded individuals. Up here in Maine we don't get the big crowds but I think sometimes we have a better time because of it. Many people actually know each other and look forward to an afternoon up simple car talk.

Thank you! I pinch myself every morning to make sure I'm not dreaming...we consider ourselves very lucky to be the new caretakers of this little slice of heaven...and we love sharing it with friends and family!

Yeah, it was very relaxed on Saturday, we had people coming and going throughout the day. It would have been nice if everyone could have met each other, but the great thing is we have a pretty active 24-44-68-28 local Facebook group, so I think we'll be able to do regular get-togethers, maybe even quarterly.
