1987 944S Value?
I have to move and can no longer store my 87 944S and will have to sell it. It is all black and original except for chrome cup wheels. It has 51K miles and everything works with no issues. No accidents, dents or any rust. Its a great smooth running car and I hate to let it go. These have gone up a bit in value but I have no idea what it is worth. Can someone suggest a range where I can start? Thanks, JS

ebay will get you a price...
Recent belt/wp service? hows the clutch? these are 2 things any decent buyer will ask. Start "low" to actually sell and start high to hold out for your money. Places like hagerty range these in the $7-12K range I imagine. if selling local, that may impact price as buyer pool and interest in the car will be an issue.

Sounds like you have a well-kept example, assuming that the major maintenance has been kept up on. If you haven't done the belts, rollers, and water pump recently, doing that before selling will help you attract a buyer. Also, replacing the chain tensioner pads wouldn't hurt either.
I think the S model is kind of hard to price since they don't come up that often. Obviously, it's worth more than an 8V N/A but probably somewhat less than an S2 or a Turbo, although they are far less common than the Turbo is, so maybe that helps the value some. I would estimate a clean, low-mile S like yours, assuming good maintenance, to be somewhere in the $8-9K range. |

Probably cheaper than the Rothmans 956 that was built in the early 80s.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. It's definately hard to put s number on these but with classic 911's going through the roof I wonder if the S's, S2's and turbos will get pulled along too.
