Need some Fuel Filter Magic

I tried to take off the fuel filter today w/o any luck. I used "liquid wrench" two or three times (waited over an hour between applications) and it still didn't work. Anyone have any "Magic" formula to unfreeze the fittings on the fuel filter???

Thanks

Hehe. BLOWTORCH!!! Heat always loosens things up. Course some of the more "conservative" people on this board wouldn't recomend you do that, so here's the next best thing: Get a piece of pipe about 12 - 24" long that'll fit over the wrench your using. Block the other wrench against the frame. Pull down if you can, it's always easier than pushing up. The extra length should give you the torque you need to break the bind. Then go to a gym and pump some iron, you panty man. (J/K)

Also, if you can tap the area were the fittings meet with a ball peen or something, you may not need the pipe. Apply the liquid wrench, tap it for about 5 min, put your wrenches on and push with one hand whille tapping it with the other.

Todwic forgot to mention, that you have to put your purse down while you do this, and remember to change out of your dress, and be aware that you might.. just might, break a nail.....

Cheers babe,

Put a wrench on both the filter and the fuel line and squeeze them together. If they are really bound up, you can squeeze them together with a c-clamp.

after you get it off, wrap teflon around the threads - will make it easier to remove next time.

I was assuming he had a wrench on both. If he didn't, he should have.

Apparently todwic has been in my sock drawer and discovered my "panties"! I knew that I was having a bad hair day because I got my panties in a wad, broke two nails, and that was only getting the car jacked up!

I'll have to take a look at taking the fuel line off at the fuel pump because the POS "brake line" wrenches were flexing too much when I was putting the torque to them (too much muscle). I hope I can get them off with my open end wrenches. It pays to buy the good "stuff".

If all else fails, get the torch!

Don't mean to insult anyone here but I assume you are trying to turn the nuts in the correct direction. Sometimes when you get under a car and look up, things get confused.

Funny you mentioned that because I thought the thread directions might have been reversed, so I double checked the directions by checking out the thread directions on the new filter. Don't worry about insulting me because I'm from Alabama and I have become accustomed to the abuse. But paybacks are a *****!!!!

Mike...

Your sig line says that it's Yellow? I've had a few call my car yellow, and that was poking fun at me. My title and registration note the color as 'cream'.

I saw an old yeller 924 and man, was it ugly.....don't tell me yours is the same color, eh? I have a pic of min on the pic page....is your color close to that??

I think Porsche calls it "Summer Yellow". I've never seen a 924 or a 944 that was yellow so it was a little added bonus for me to get this color; its my son's car! So if he is busy racing and/or terifying friends in his YELLOW car, I'll find out. Huntsville is small (250/300k) compared to other cities, and I'm sure he'll be the only one with a Yellow 944!

I haven't found your car, but Ross T's car is the same color. Here is a link to his car.

Rare 944 colors?

I wouldn't call it cream, but its more like a soft yellow, not like the Vettes.

Calling yourself "Richard" reminds me of a tee-shirt that was out in the mid/late 80's. It had a stickman (Dick) and it had a few cute slogans. One of them was:
See Dick with Jane!
See Dick with Sue!
See Dick with Mary!
See Dick with AIDS!!!

At the bottom it closed with:

DON'T BE A DICK!

PS The torch didn't work! Its still stuck.

Sometimes if you are having trouble getting things unstuck, try tightening them just untill they move, and then untighten them. If all else fails and you REALLY have to get it off, cut the lines far enough that you can stick a metal pipe the the O/D the same as the I/D of your hose. tighten with hose clamps, repeat. I've done this where my tranny lines where rubbing a hole in themselves. Inserted a 4 piece of iron pipe and no more troubles.

Mine's here......I kinda think that textured spot behind the doors, and under, should be black, eh? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was just about to say this but he beat me to it. This is how I got mine off. I basically torqued the nuts in both directions until they moved. Once they moved I sprayed WD40 on it and then rocked the nut back and forth working the WD40 into the threads. Evenually I got it off no problem

I think the textured areas (behind the front and back wheels & on the area behind the door) is where Porsche place clear pieces of plastic/vinyl from 3M. I've seen kits sell for $65 on ebay. Is this what you where talking about?
