What to do and not to do..
Thought you guys might be interested in the recent work I carried out on my 924s.
Started with an attempt to install an offset camshaft key..camshaft bolt seized solid on attempting to undo(breaker bar wedged from crank to floor)..unfortunately unknown to me the belt and slipped on the crank..result 4 bent exhaust valves and 3 12 hour days in garage! Ok head removal..after undoing the inlet manifold and disconnecting the two idle control valve hoses plus the odd connector I tied the whole assembly out of the way to the right. Exhaust manifold took some serious levering to get off and clear studs..no idea why this is not mentioned become a nightmare ..do yourself a favour and disconnect at join and remove with head. While the head was off i took the liberty to port the inlet tracks..result no need for the special throttle cam as instant throttle response. Replacement of head and cam assmebly straight forward but then that cursed exhaust manifold had to disconnect the entire exhaust system to find some wiggle room even then very difficult to get back must of taken 2 hours just to get it hooked up again. Took the opportunity to clean the idle control valve and injector seats etc. Now I need more fueling I have set the FQS to +6 not sure about the +6 with 3 deg ignition retard but may try this setting later. Next step I have new uprated injectors to go in as well as a bosch performance pump and remote regulator. Sadly the offset key will have to wait untill I have a spare cam set up and then the difficult tast of drilling out the camshaft bolt now made impossible by a broken off torx bit within my partially drilled hole! Anyone out there used the augtronic camshaft? Last edited by kevrobert; 01-10-2016 at 10:12 AM.. Reason: Spelling |
