Adj. cam gear on DOHC engines?
Anybody played with this?
Search mostly comes up with people dialing in the cams to WSM specs. Advancing the cam does wonders on the 8v 944...so I am curious if anybody had tried it on the 944S/S2. I have an adjustable cam gear for the 944S/S2 16v engine, so I know it's been done, but would like to know real results, anecdotal or otherwise. |

It's kinda like the 32V 928's. Pull out that dial gauge, and play with the readings and try to find specs for them? It's uber easy to **** up though.

I am not talking about the dial gauge
The cams will be set right according to the WSM specs but then the whole cam phasing will be advanced a few degrees via the timing belt sprocket on the front...I have an adjustable 944S2 cam gear. Everywhere I have asked I have gotten the same answer regarding the dial gauge, no one seems to have used the cam gear itself to do the advancing...so this appears to be uncharted territory. |

Definitely uncharted territory. I would assume the cam gear is not as precise as doing it individually with dial at the lobes. It's only geometry. Can't be that hard... lol
Are you going forced induction?
