INSTRUCTIONS to replace TT Coupler Sleeve?

MY sleeve apparently bit the dust, and i ordered a newish to me one. but now i need some directional help on how to do it myself rather then paying someone $400 to do it. i couldnt find it in the hayes manual, i havent looked at clarks garage yet tho. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll just need to drop the transmission. It's not a hard job at all. Put the rear of the car on jackstands as high as you can. Unbolt inner connections on the drive shafts (wrap them in plastic bags to keep dirt out and grease off you). Tie them up out of the way, Disconnect the speedo sending unit and the reverse light switch connections. Remove the set screw from the shifter connection on top of the transmission. Inside, remove the shifter boot and handle. Remove the c-clip that holds the shifter rod to the shifter lever. Pull the shifter rod forward as far as you can. Push the plastic tube that the shifter rod goes through at the front of the transmission forward (or backward, I forget) until it's clear from being damaged during the removal of the trans. Remove the two bolts from either end of the coupler and slide it either forward or backward until it is not connecting the torque shaft to the input shaft on the trans. Unbolt the trans from the bell housing at the front (it won't fall). Put a jack under it. Then undo the two bolts out that end of the crossmember that the transmission mount is attached to. Wiggle trans backward until free. Drop trans slowly maneuvering the cross member around the exhaust. You could just unbolt the mount at the top of the trans but it's damned hard to get a socket and wrench on those bolts. Unbolting the crossmember out the ends is MUCH easier. Pray that the splines on the torque shaft or input shaft aren't effed up...

I'm sure there are but I've never "torqued" them. Just tightened them good by hand and 3/8 drive ratchet.

Look up the torque specs and use a torque-wrench on everything! Improper torque is why you've got a stripped sleeve to begin with. Don't do it again!

Also the bit shape for the CV bolts is known as cheesehead or triple-square (12-points). DO NOT try to use torx or allen bits!!!

Clark's got good write-ups.
