I am gunna cry...

Ok...so I get back from my trip a couple of days ago and my car is burning oil. Massive amounts. I am pissed...but understand. Tonight on the way to a party the left side rear starts making a horrible clunking sound. I think CV and was gonna check it out tommarow. So I am driving back and going the speed limit for once around this turn and HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL there is a dear. I try to brake but WHAM at about 65mph. My car slides sideways around the turn but somehow I maintain control. All i remember is a 2nd Wham on my roof. I figure i will check it out at home. While finishing driving home...couple of miles...I realize my headlight is in the trees and my hood is bent up on my side. Then I realize my whole headlamp assembly is weird. Upon arriving home I discover that I hit it on the left side...the bumper missed(legs) and the WHOLE header panel is trashed and the headlight box thing is peeled back. The headlight is distroyed, and massive dentage. Tears forming I walk around to the roof where I find another dent...and the drops of red assure me that that is where it landed. FUDGE!!!!! So now I am alone at home pissed to hell that my one true prize possesion is destroyed. I love that car so much....every single time I walk away from it I glance back at least 2 times and smile at my beauty and think...thats mine. I get in the car and then think of a place to go. It is my Mother f'ing pride and joy and now it is ruined. ...merry christmas...

I am sorry I feel really bad Your just going to have to get her fixed up. Even if it takes you awhile. Ther are trashed 944's all over the place. Find what you need from them for cheap and get her back onto the road. Dude, you almost had me in tears,...

On to the next one...

I would move on to the next one... I know it can never be the same, but you can get a pretty good deal on a 944 with a dead motor and then go at it.

Sorry for the loss. I thought I might get to experience that loss myself on Monday. It was perfectly clear and crisp that morning, and I set out for my in-laws house for Christmas. During the drive, 12 inches of snow fell. 12 inches of snow is VERY fun in a 944...or a 4wd jeep for that matter...

Try to have a happy holiday anyway. Drink some eggnog (i hate eggnog..), until you pass out.

Very, very sorry. Would your insurance cover it? At least you didn,t get hurt or killed. Ive heard horror stories. Things like huge bucks with antlers crashing through windshields and impailing people or kicking them to death while strapped in by a seatbelt. Every time you look at your 944 think "glad I didnt get stabed in the face with an antler". My 944 looks like I hit deer on a regular basis just for sport. And I do!

It'll be OOKK! I did something similar but with a curb, I still haven't put mine all the way back together. God they are pretty though when they're put together. Well, hopefully nothing else bad happens.

I'm glad that you are alright.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I'm sure that in time, you will have your car back in great shape.

I also feel sorry for the deer that you hit. No spare parts available to bring it back to life.

Just be thankful the dear didn't go through the windshield (used to happen a lot where I grew up in Michigan)

The car can be replaced - If you were burning a ton of oil, the engine was probably on its way out anyways.

Pick up another - keep the one you have for spare parts - or you can part it out to recover your costs.

Also - some states (I know Michigan did) will pay for damages caused by deer - did you report it to the police - they may send you a check for a few thoudsand. Hell, $500 would be a start.

Hey Timothy,

What color is your 944? I live near you in Bellbrook and have seen a red 924 in "the Springs" but never another 944. I'm in the Springs a lot, The Winds is one of my favorite restaurants. You should hook up with some of us Dayton guys sometime....

You might want to try taking your car to a vocational technical school's body shop and see if they would be interested in fixing it. Sure, it is being worked on by a bunch of kids who are just learning, but where I live the instructor will make them do it right using industry best practices until it is perfect.
I would rather have some 16 year old who doesn't know what he is doing do it 10 times until he gets it right then have some damn shyster who knows how to make it look good until your check clears work on my car any day.
Usually, they just charge for the parts needed, as well. No labor.

Sorry to hear of your loss...

YES... be glad your alive, as was said these type of accidents (dear Vs car) commonly KILL people!

944 N/A's are cheap, if you can afford it get another one and use what's left of your car for parts, it was burning oil probaly ready for an expensive rebuild anyway.

Eggnog? I love eggnog! But Nooooooooooo, too much and you in for a hellacoius hangover
(this man is a profesional, don't try this at home!)
Beer! drink lots and lots of good quality beer!
Or if you can handle it lots of high quality scotch.
I suggest Jamesons or at least V.O.

But don't drink and drive it can only make things worse!

Things have got to get better!

I was really really mad when I crashed my 944 last summer... I thought it was the end of the world. Now, however, the front has nice new paint, there are no scratches on the hood or stone chips in the nose like before, the front spoiler is straighter than before, and my steering is so much tighter than before. It was a blessing in disguise... albeit an expensive one.

Sorry to hear of your loss! But I am glad your ok. Try and remain positive, it could have been worse, you could have been hurt! AF: I know what you mean about Deer in Michigan, I once got a BIG 10 point buck with my girlfriends car, it broke off a antler and was sticking about 4-5" through the windshiled! I can usually spot them a mile away, even at night...Good luck with it and I hope you can ether get another Porsche or get yours fixed.

How about the license plate "OHMYGOD" or "DEERHNTR"
or "DAMDEER" or "DEERSUK" or "EVICERATE" or "RAMMER" or "ANIMLOVR" or "BAMBISUX"..

I hit a deer once in my El Camino.. with the tail gate.. I was backing up.. and just doinked it.. it jumped up into the air and started scrambling in the bed of my El Camino.. I was freaking out and Ted Nugent was blaring on the radio.. I think it was Cat Scratch Fever.. i think.. I can't remember.. it was a sucky experience.. I like deer they're nice..

When I lived in Arkansas, there was a 2 mi straight stretch of Hwy 7 that had ooodles of deer. I hit 5, killed 3 with one car totaled to their credit ('81 Pontiac Catalina, 4 dr). One was just standing on the shoulder of the road and I saw it so I slowed down. It was caught in the headlights so I slowed to about 15 mph. The stupid sob waited untill I was right next to it before it bolted...right into the side of my truck. It bounced off and staggeered off into a cow pasture. I decided that it wasn't gonna get away that easy and I floored the truck, crashed thru the barbed wire fence and chased it for about 1/2 mile untill it found some woods to bail into. Guess where I hunted when deer season came around.

Out here we watchout for Donkeys

Looks like you guys have to much wild life in those parts of the world. Out here in the Middle East we have to watch out for wild donkeys, camels and people that decide to cross high speed highways.

If you happen to hit a camel and survive, changes are the old camel that you hit, is now a thorough bread race camel(right!!) and you owe the owner a few thousands...
