Cam Timing..can advancing/retarding help performance?
Should I advance or retard my cam for better performance? I am in the middle of my belt replacement, so I figured now would be a good time to ask. My car has the regular bolt ons (chip/one off cold air intake, supertrapp muffler) is there like a tooth change that may help? I drive in all rpm's...and will run 17's with a low pro tire (smaller than stock).

But!!!
You can get the cam from the later model 944 NA's and put it on the early heads. Gives you a bit more exhaust timing. Some have custom grind cams; would be interesting to hear from them. In the late 70's when I actually had a new 924, I was looking at a few performance enhancements other than down hill in a stiff breeze. One of these was a means of advancing the cam with a lever in the cockpit or a centrifugal counter weight advancement system. |
