No spark dizzy
Hey guys, I got a issue that I have been struggling with. An at this point I am lost I can find anything on Clark Garage about it an looked on the forums didn't see anything referencing this issue so apologies if there is something I missed.
So I not getting any spark. What I know is the battery IS sending proper power ( even hooked it up to a second battery, An hooked the car up to a dodge ram 3500 lol) The Ignition coil is working properly an an is less than 1 month old now, The Power is making it to the dizzy, The rotor is new an seems to be receiving power ( basically I know the rotor is spinning.) But that is where the story ends. None of the plug wires seem to be receiving power. So before someone tells me that its the cap I just wanna say I thought that already an installed a new cap less than 2 weeks ago. So did I just get unlucky an got a bad cap? or am I missing something in particular here? All the grounds seem to be fine an were recently cleaned. |

Hey Dionsysus944...check out the link below to our tech articles on the 944. Hopefully you'll find some info to help troubleshoot your spark issue. Best of luck!

let's double check with a volt meter.
do you have +12 volts at the black wire on the ignition coil? do you have some thousands of volts at the ignition coil output wire? do you have some thousands of volts at the ends of the plug wires? the most common fault with 944 is that the GREEN wire on the ignition coil, which is a ground wire routed through/controlled by the DME, is not sending the proper "pulse" signal to fire the coil. this can be a DME problem, DME relay problem (DME relay sends power to the DME), or the speed/reference sensors (two black plugs mounted to the back of the intake manifold next to the oil filler cap) are bad. |

Put a spare spark plug in the #1 plug wire and set it on the manifold so it's grounded. Crank it and check for spark. At the same time , see if your tach needle is slightly bouncing. If no bounce, the coil is not being given permission to ground out and zap - from the DME. This could be because of the reference/speed sensors or their connection. They get brittle and crumble apart. DON'T drop the broken pieces down into the clutch bell housing. Put a rag over the sight hole there. Or the DME relay. Or the DME itself. Always carry a spare DME relay. This powers up the DME, the fuel pump, and the injectors.

Thank you guys. I didn't mention earlier but I have replaced both the DME relay an the Speed Reference sensor with in the last I would say month. There is no bounce on the tach when trying to start the car. I will double check soon when I get some time this week V2rocket an let you know what the #'s are to those wires.

Both sensors? What brand is the DME relay? Hopefully, not KAE. If so, don't trust that it's good. Early or late 944?
