Turbo replacement observations
I am finally finished replacing my turbo charger. What a nightmare!
For starters, a stud broke on the return line. Then to top that off the LONG 8M bolt the attaches the turbo to the crossmember was stripped. Worse yet it had to have been me that stripped it the last time. Had to drill and extract that bolt, thats something I hope no one else ever has to go through. Now that I am done ranting, here are my observations between the K26/6 and the K27/7 that I had in there before. The K26/6 seems to spool a tiny bit earlier, but it just does not have the same punch that the 27/7 did. In the end the K27/7 was better due to its higer available boost at lower RPM's.

It does sound like a tough job...I have replaced a Turbo on one of my X RX-7's and its not a fun job there ether...But the new Boost is well worth it!

I would actually rather do another clutch, than another turbo. At least with the clutch you can logically progesss through the entire thing and make room to work as you go.
With the turbo you never have any extra space to work.
