How the heck do I remove the glove box light to change the bulb?

Guys,

Please help on this...

The glove box light on my 89 na 944 has burned out.

I have the bulb, but can not figure out hoe to get the light out of the glove box to change the bulb...sounds silly.

But I do not want to break it by removing it the wrong way.

I thought about removing the glove box, but that seems like it is a time waster...

Does the light just pry out with a small screwdriver?

Anyone have the trick on how to change the bulb without taking out the glove box?

Does it come out the same as the courtesy light in between the sunvisors or in the rear side compartment, I do not see a tab to push on to pry it out?

Thanks!

Mine just pops out with a thumbnail under the end opposite the switch. What year and model is your car?

I don't know how old your car or glovebox light is, but yes you CAN remove the light without taking the glovebox out. See 88Silver924S procedure above.

BUT, the light costs about $30-35 to replace new (used is less) so I recommend that you remove the glovebox to get to the bulb because the plastic that holds the spring that retains it in the glovebox is very fragile after all these years. It may still break getting the bulb out.

WARNING: When you lower and pull the glove box towards you be very careful about the wires and the plastic body of the light. It is easy to catch the light on the dashboard and break it. Proceed slowly and cautiously. I'm not trying to make it sound difficult but watch what you are doing.

My thoughts exactly...27 year old plastic=more than potentially brittle.

Cracking it would ruin my day....

Thanks for the tip...

It being in the glove box pretty much preserves it quite well. Just be easy popping it out.
