What tires size should I use?

I bought some cayman rims and need to find some tires to fit my sons 87 turbo that we are fixing up to give him in march on his birthday

Cayman rims are 6.5 up front and 8 in the rear. Pic is of rims. Would appreciate any and all range that you think will fit. Anyone have these rims on their NA or turbo? Thanks

You sure about the 6.5 up front, doesn't seem wide enough for a Cayman wheel. Also what diameter are they, 18in?

Ah yes, early 17in boxster/cayman wheels. 225/45 front and 255/40 rear should fit and are the factory recommended sizes for 17in tires on a late 944.

Technically you can fit those tire sizes, but they are little bit too wide for those wheels. By doing it you will reduce the effective width of the tire that will have the contact with the road surface, thus reducing effect of putting wider tires. It is not recommended to put 225/45 17 tires on a rim that is less than 7 inches wide. The same with the rear - 255/40 17 tire generally should not be put on a rim that is less than 8.5 inches wide.

Best sizes for those rims would be 205/50 front and 225/45 rear.

Nice balance would be factory; 205/17 front and 225/17 rears.

If anyone needs a wheel fitment and spacing guide, please check out the below link. It's quite comprehensive, but a lot of very useful info. Hope this will be helpful to you all!
