e'en the small crack showing thru on the inside? I guess your right since they all look the same, all 4 ('83 & '85). I guess I just pissed away $100 or whatever it costs for those sleaves. Man, that's all I'm waiting on is the sleeves and a seal from Pelicans and I'll be almost done with my motor, ready to slide it back in.

I have never needed to replace those sleeves.....can't see how there would ever be a problem with them...It would also be easier to buy the housing with the bush already installed.

He he, I am a tenacious fool indeed. No one bothered to tell me that they could be put in backwards. sure enough, bassackwards, for about 10 min I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't slide together like the other one did. Swaped it around, got both shafts installed. Got tired of waiting on Pelican to send me the exchange seal, so I'm gonna use the old one, it came out w/o a fight and went back in nice n snug. I'll wager that it'll keep the oil in. Gonna put the motor back in the car and put the head on and hook it back up and see if she'll go or not.
