Ghosts in the radiator fan system
The left radiator fan seems to like to turn itself off when it wants to. I just replaced a hose that blew out and was going to replace the relay and the thermo switch when the fan started to run again ( before replacing the relay and switch ). The hose blew out because the fan was not coming on. Also it seems the a/c is tied into the left fan too!
Any ideas?

Under normal operation, the left fan should not come on until the engine is running very hot or the AC itself is on.
The left fan is driven by engine temp and the AC system. Check the wiring at the thermoswitch and at the sensors on the AC system (near the accumiltor) Check the fuses. Also, for some reason the left fan seems to be more apt to sieze up.

I have the "normal" fan switch and it had been turning the fan on at about the center of the gauge. Then the fan was not coming on at all, hence the blown hose. So, I replaced that hose and the fan still did not come on. I drove it a few days, turning on the A/C (right hand fan) to get the temp down to half way and turned off the A/C when that was accomplished. Then today, the left hand fan was running.. I dont understand.
However, today I am replacing the relay, the fan switch, the fuse and the thermostat, regardless. Then I am going to check the grounding at the fuse box, get a good grounding by sanding the ground surface and see what happens. Thanks AF, again
