Look what I found!!!

OIL!!!

Cyl.#4

Cyl.#2

Cyl.#3

Cyl.#1

It appears to me that this guy did not do a good job installing the exhaust guides. True? I mean from my understanding, they are not suppose to be wet with oil. This could very well be my problem? Could this cause a valve to stick? Remember the pops i heard during the compression test. Well, I think I am going to give this guy a call and let him know whats going on. He is going to have to replace the guides with new ones. Is there anything special he should know about installing guides for this head or its the same for all head, pretty much? I am going to have the intake guides replace too. What should I do? Should I take the head back to him and ask him to do it again? Should I clean the head up or leave it and bring it to him as is? Also, my coolant was green but it had a slight hint of brown in it. I dumped it out and at the bottom of the bucket was thick brown sludge? Result of this? Oil cooler seals??? What?

Also, notice that Cyl.#1 valve stems are wet, not hazed. I just found out that I forgot to seal the exhaust flanges with the rings from the gasket kit

Well, to use the technical terms...

"oh ****"...(smack forehead repeatedly)

Looks like at least 3 bad valve guides and seals. Would be interesting to see the pics from the intake side as well..

Valveguides - factory guides come in slightly undersized and must be reamed to the proper dimensions (ensures an exact very smooth fit)

At this point, all of your valve guides and seals are suspect (simple logic - if 3 are messed up, probably a few more are as well). Lateral play in the valves will have to be measured

Oil in coolant could be from bad headgasket or bad oil cooler seals. At this point, it would be impossible to determine

more pics please...

There was a little bit of oil in the intake guides but not alot. There is oil inside my intake manifold and there is also some in my breather tube. I dont think the intake guides are bad. Should I replace them anyway? I bought the 1st over exhaust guides the first time, that is what I was suppose to get right? Is this the machinist fault? Should I do the oil cooler seals while I have the head off? Hmmm, you know I think thats maybe where the bit of oil i saw on the belly pan came from, have to check. What should I do?

UPDATE: I just checked and the cooler is right above the boot for the steering rack where there was some oil. The oil dripped down onto the belly pan. I was wondering where that was coming from. I guess i found it

Intakes don't look bad, but they should be checked with a dial gauge to make sure they are not worn out.

Exhaust guides are definately shot. Can't say definitavely without verifying condition first.

Yes, you bought the coirrect guides.

Impossible to speculate where the oil on the belly pan came fron - clean up the area and see if you can find evidence of a leak anywhere.

take pictures of the valves themselves please - particularly interested in #3. Aldo, photos of #3 cylinder.

Is it me, a trick of the light or....

Look closely at the intake valves...

had three different people look at them - some of them look bent.

don't know if it is a trick of the light.

(left valve cyl 2 and 4)

Hmmm, they didnt look bent to me but I'll take a close look. Should I take the head back to the same guy and fix them or someone else? The oil on the belly pan is right below the oil cooler. I am going to tear that open to and reseal.
