In the belt cover right upper side exist like a breather or connection.
I don´t take out this the first time, then I don´t know if I forget something. Looks like a breather or a place to conncet a hose ? Let me know regards Last edited by Eduardo Castrejón Elbjorn; 01-31-2003 at 08:32 AM.. |

Whenever I take a car apart, I use a digital camera on it first. Sometimes the car remains apart for a while so I can forget where things go or how they were routed. The camera makes it easy. I learned to take this precaution from repairing clocks. Didn't have digital cameras then so I used a 35mm just in case.
Mine is and has been plugged for years. Before I changed to an MAF, there was a hose there.

I'm having a hard time placing where we are on the engine (picture quality) but if you're refering to the belt cover, then the hose connects to the underside of the air filter housing. It can be a PITA to fit in there while everything is in tact. I recommend removing the air box to properly attach it. And use good clamps so you NEVER have to mess with it again.
As to why it's there, your bet is as good as mine: cooling belts?

The hose goes to the air box.
But, porsche stopped doing that, later cars are actually plugged because it isn't needed or something. There is an actually part that you can get from Porsche to plug it. |
