Anyone know the amperage draw for the air compressor?

Just what the title asks. Does anyone know what the amperage draw of the air compressor (the Porsche one that inflates the collapseable spare) is? When I got my 924S, the compressor's power cord had a short in it at the connection to the lighter adaptor. I found that out when I tested it and it immediately blew my cig. lighter fuse.

Went to Radio Shack and bought a new "tip" (for lack of a better term) and replaced the old, shorted-out tip. The new tip had a 7.5 amp miniature BUS fuse in it.

I tested the compressor and everything was working fine without a load on it. I decided to test it under load and it worked fine up to 35 PSI, at which point it blew the 7.5 amp fuse in the new "tip". My thought is that since the car's fuse is 16 amp, I should be OK with using a 10 or 12 amp fuse in the compressor tip.

Will the compressor still blow even a 10 or 12 amp fuse? Should it have even blown a 7.5 amp fuse? Am I risking setting the tip on fire from overheating if I use a 10 or 12 amp fuse?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to real that little book I wrote.

Aaron
