Oi!!!

So I got my freshly refreshed motor started, and it ran for about 3 min and sputtered out and died. Wracked my brain trying to figure out WTF just happened to my motor. Well, in typical todwicisity, I didn't tighten my TDC and RPM sensor bracket down all the way, and lo and behold sheered my TDC pin right off of there. I cussed aplenty trying to figure out how I was gonna drill it out and put a new pin in, when I notice down on the very bottom of the bell housing is a niche that allows one to do such things. threads were striped, tho. Chased what was left of them with a tap, and tossed in about half a gallon of JB weld to make sure it no moves. I'll see how things went in the morning.

told ya not to forget the sensors. I asked ya about them when you were having engine spinning problems...."nope, don't have them installed" then I said "don't forget them when you go to crank it up"

Steps NOT to take....

That's what I love about this board...when I finally get around to assembling my engine all I have to do is read back through all the posts and leave out all those steps! That should limit the learning curve to a nice gentle slope. Todwic - at least you have the stones to step up to the plate....

Unfortunately, they're all in my head. I think in my past life I was a flywheel and I treated my nieghbors the TDC sensor and the little pin poorly. Very poorly, and now Karma has arranged for me to go through about 10 to 12 TDC sensors a year.

I can only hope...

that I can come up with some new and interesting methods of screwing up my engine rebuild.

Get it all rebuilt and the engine fires a couple of times, then dies
Oddest mechanical noise ever:

MEOOOWWWWW!!!!! OWW!!!!!

On inspection:

"Hey, wtf is this blood soaked fur coming out of the spark plug hole?" "Oh well, time for a beer." Go inside.

"Honey, where's the cat?"

"What do you mean he was playing in the garage?"

The Post to this board:

Do you think I could burn some gunk out of my #2 cylinder by just letting it run for a while?
