Death wobble at 80mph
I don’t have any idea what it is but all is well until I hit about 80mph under hard acceleration I get this massive death wobble on the left side that doesn’t go away until I brake hard and decrement my speed about 35mph. Any thoughts on what could cause this? Alignment checked out good, I don’t think any wheel bearings are bad and my tires aren’t in bad shape.
Thanks in advance!

Tire out of balance or a bent wheel.

^^^ I agree with the above. Have the tire balance checked and have each wheel checked for a shifted belt and any flat spotting. There they can determine which tires are out of balance and they can see a bent wheel or a shifted belt on a balancer. You may want to find a shop that does road force balancing. That is a very thorough balancing that may require tire removal and or movement on the wheel. The balancer will advise the tech of any issues in road force with the tire being balanced.

Explain more about the death wobble being "only on the left side". How is that being determined - that its on the left side? Also are we talking front or rear of the car? Where do you feel it - steering wheel or through the seat/floor? Any noise also happening?
You might have someone video the car from behind to see if that reveals anything.

wobbles at a specific speed are almost always to a rotational mass being out of whack (tire out of balance, popped tire cord, bent wheel, etc)
however, i had a car do this once, and believe it or not, it turned out to be the castor block. while the initial onset was brought about by a balance issue, the root cause was a bad castor block. |
