Question Oil consumption question?

Guys,

I took the car out yesterday for a run between Khobar and Riyadh about 400K, the oil level was fine before I left, about 2 hour into the run and having driven at 180KPH most of the way, I stopped for fuel.

When I started the car up again, the oil level warning came one, parked up the car, left it for a few minutes an checked the oil, it was low, it took about 750ml of oil to bring it to normal, checked the car . the oil warning was off.

Does this sound normal, this was the first real prolonged run at that speed that I have taken, normally the car just gets a little top up every one or two weeks.

Any ideas ? or is it just about normal ?

Regard.

Well, these cars do eat some oil. When you drive them hard is when they really eat oil. I think zoltan said his car will go through 2qts in one day driven an autox. I would imagine the car eating up oil on long high rpm runs. Your best bet would be to carry a good amount a back up oil with where ever you go just in case.

Sounds about normal for driving it hard.

Curious why the oil light came on though
