hey, I'm new, this is my first post, but I have been reading and using this wonderful resource for about 2 weeks! I am 16 and I bought an early '85 944 which i am planning on restoring. I have already fixed numerous things, and I love the 944 to death.
My question is the plastic peice under my shift boot, the one that snaps in, has two broken tabs that keep it from staying down like it is supposed to. I am considering trying some velcro on it, but I am open to any ideas. Does anyone know where I can get another one? Any help would be awesome, Love that '44! ![]() |

I would replace it. It costs like 3 bucks. Here are some sights to search find it.

I think I may have confused you, it is the peice that the shift boots elastic goes around, that huge plastice peice over the console that is covered by carpet, this is an early model, thanks for the tip though

Hey, nice to hear that there's another 16 y/o! Thanks for buying a real car, instead of becoming one of these dime a dozen honda boys.
If you don't ever plan on putting a different shift boot in it I would try superglue.

silicone will work and you can peel it off when you get the right part with no mess left over. I would say just get the new peice

One of the reasons this frame keeps poping out is that the shift lever pin that fits into the long shifting linkage to the rear, is worn and lets the shifter move more than the leather shift boot is designed to.

Welcome
You allready have the answer but a new one. My tabs were broken and I had to replace it. The 17 year old plastic gets brittle and I have tried many types of glue, but the glue never worked in the long run.
