Emblems are as follows:
356: Small crest - also used on some center caps with inlaid crests. Early (65 - 94) Classic Porsche crest, "PORSCHE" and "Stuttgart" in gold lettering above the crest itself. Late: 993 and beyond: Porsche and Stuttgart in black lettering Letting "shape" changed somewhat. Silver: Identical to late crest, but in silver instead of gold. Authorized by Porsche AG as an after-sales accessory. Looks very sharp on some cars. All crests (except the 356) are interchangable. Hint: If you are replacing yours, spray it with a clear laquer before installing it - keeps the shine longer AFJuvat

AF JUvat: ( I need your knowledge)
What about spyder´s ? I already have the spyder and porsche logo but I´m not sure about the 2 porsche emblems (hood and rear). 356 or the 911 early ? |

They spyders should have used the 356 emblems. Those were the only ones available at the time (57-58)

I have a book about 356 and pyders only but looks diferent, also some spyder have the logo painted.
Yes, I suposed in a beggining the same. But the 356 logos are diferent, 356 and 356/a but b and c used a logo inserted in crome split on the hood. I supose that I will finish using the 911 logos |

By the way, thanks for your tip about the clear laque.
One year ago when I painted a car, I bought to pelicand the hood crest but when cames to me the gold paint or electrolisis, takes out in some places, I told to pelican the situation and they send me another at no cost (great customer service) and I think about the posibilitie of clear paint to mantain the gold in place, But then I think that maybe this paint will hurt the gold. becaus this emblems are poorly made. But if you told me this, is beause you already did it, then I will do the same, thanks ! |

I have a silver one. I just took some digital photos, also, of the old crest compared to the new crest (I have a few different crests that I have accumulated).
My digital camera upload cable is at work, so IF this Level#3 Snow Emergency ends and I can go (legally) to work tomorrow, I'll post them for you guys to see the subtle differences. The horse, lettering fonts, and stag horns are slightly different. We already have 12 inches of snow here, and another 5-10 inches is predicted for tonite, so it is "iffy"... Tifo

Here is a shot of an "early" vs. "late" badge. Note the difference in the letters, the horse, the staghorns, and the gold color.
The old is on the left, the new on the right. Tifo

Isn't there another badge, were STUTTGART is written on the horse shield without being separated from the rest of the horse shield?
