Weird Blinker Problem

Not too long ago, I swapped out all the exterior lights on my 944 to LEDs, except for the fog lights. I also swapped out the factory blinker relay to the LED blinker relay from superbrightleds.com.

Whenever I use the blinkers with the headlights or parking lights turned on, the front blinkers won't blink, but they'll stay illuminated. Only the rear lights blink. Also of interest, whenever the left lights are blinking, the upper red light in the housing illuminates, only dimly. Fog light illumination doesn't have an effect on this phenomenon.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

If you revert to normal filament bulbs, and a normal relay, does everything work correctly?

If so, leave the filament bulbs in place, inasmuch as the car was designed for filaments.

It's a bit late for giong back to standard bulbs; I know others have performed LED conversions, and I'm not sure if they ran into this issue or not.

But to (somewhat) answer your question, this issue didn't exist before I converted to LEDs.

have you checked the blinker fluid level?

Ah, that's it, I needed to swap it out to the LED grade fluid.

In all seriousness though, it turns out that the driver-side LED was working properly. It's just that the brightness difference between "parking light mode" and "blinker mode" isn't very noticeable until closer inspection.

The passenger-side, however, needed to be flipped around; turns out that orientation of installation does matter. Now I'm thinking that I might just need to get a different type of LED bulb, but I'll check these out at night, when the contrast is higher, before doing some digging.

yeah - can't mismatch fluid there

yes - leds are diodes, and the assemblies are usually pole specific, because diodes typically only pass voltage in one direction
