X-pipe and RMB 1986.5

I had previously done RMB.
Recently deleted cat and put on X-pipe.

Roger had said the shop was relocating (Ott no longer manufacturing?) and no product would be available for months. With further questions there was one stainless steel pipe left and I snagged it-- immediately going over budget.

While exhaust was off I removed half axle on driver's side to refinish and replace boots.

The shop dog lost interest about one hour in:

O2 sensor and a few crispy hangers replaced as well.

The pipe went on easy, at this point stock manifolds and intermediate silencers with with RMB and X-pipe. I had two concerns ahead of time: what would the HP gain be and how much noise. I didn't want to cross over into dumb-ass territory because of running with no muffler.

The HP gain is a real honest bump , I had that stupid grin on my face when I took her out.
I'll let the panel decide on the sound but I'm pleased.
I've got an itch to use the other bung hole for a wideband A/F... I like that one Leo did.

I'm jealous.
Doesn't seem too loud to me.

Sounds perfect to me, definitely not too loud. The only people that might complain are the Eco-Nazi's.

Thats a nice X you got,
It also appears that the bolts for the clamps have been cut off, these are long for a reason , it makes installation easier to attach the nut to the bolts .

Hang on to the Cats they are worth a bit of cash to someone that needs them,
and will become quite rare.

You might find that the stock pumpkin with the X pipe is a bit quieter and wont drone at 3200 RPM.

Also if your using those red pads to jack the car you should NOT do this,
these rails are not structural bearing , they are thin metal and support the floor,
using these areas will damage the floor sealing if continually used for jacking ,
use the 4 factory jack pads only,

Thanks you guys.

I saved the cats and mounted it on the wall like a deer head trophy. Getting money for it someday would be a pleasant surprise.

The end of the bolts are on but you can't see them in the pic because of the heat shield.

Those poor cats. What breed? Short hair or long hair?

Mrs. Crumpler said the S3 now sounds like a teenagers car.
Where is the love?

Any updates or changes to this exhaust? I know it has been a while and maybe there are some new options out there. I am trying to decide what direction I want to go, as of now I have an RMB and stock remaining. A little bit on the reserved side of life for me but I want to avoid being obnoxious too. Any suggestions?
