Porsche Crest 88 928 S4 roof antenna

Hi there this is my first time, on this thread but I'm looking for some help. I own a 88 928 S4 and it has a small issue with I think it's the Antenna weather seal that is causing water to come in and drip down through the light inside and it's dripping on the rear arm rest, can anybody direct me on how to replace the seal ? or atleast find a website or something thank you

where exactly is the antenna the 88 didnt come with one on the roof.
This could possibly be a hatch seal leaking

Well, "neil" definitely has a point, you should tell us where you live. That's pretty important afterall~

Anyway, when you cut a hole in your roof, you take responsibility for the Porsche anti-rust program. The whole body is zinc plated, and RARELY rusts! If you have a rust issue on a Porsche 928 that is only 21 years old these days then sir, you are doing GOOD! I want to install a FUBA Betaflex antenna [first seen on the '86 VW Scirocco in 1985] on my '85 S2. The car has a wire "in-windshield" antenna that works fine. I have a head unit that can control my iPod at the head, but it works slow- so slow that I have pulled over.

Mine had a friggin CB antenna mount 4 inches down and centered in mine (Hatch). Cellular was the one pasted on the inside of the hatch glass and transmitted the physical cell antenna mounted on the outside of hatch glass. I ended up putting an Amplified Shark Fin Antenna in my hole. I bet that is where his is since this is where the light is in my OB. Not really sure where the light is in the later models.

If so, then you could just drop that whole panel down and trace your leak that way.

My feeble memory is that you access the factory roof antenna after removing the sunroof motor cover (ASSumes you have sunroof...), drop the motor and transmission down slightly (Do Not Remove it) , and there is the nut holding the antenna in. Think about a crowsfoot flare-nut socket for this. If you suspect that the antenna base is leaking, the telltale would be water in that motor cover. The antenna seal is pretty good, so maybe if it's loose a little bit of wrench on that bottom nut will do the trick.

However, the Most Popular leak back there is the rear hatch seal itself. Water leaks past the seal, passes between the metal body there and the interiaor roof panel, and finds the lowest place to gather and eventually drip. You can inspect the seal and look for a telltale whitish stain on it where the water is passing. The seal is also easily damaged if it's moved at all from original position. Opening and closing the hatch will 'roll' the seal and it will tear a little eventually. The seal itself isn't outrageously expensive, but it does take a bit of patience and finesse to get the new one in there perfectly.

disconnect the battery ,
then remove the rear sunvisors,
then remove the light housing,
pop off the hatch liner it has 5 push pins,
you will then be able to figure out what you need to do to tighten the antenna mount
