Big problem??

Hi,
I have been having trouble with the air flow meter. When connected the car doesn’t start. When it is not connected it starts but billows white smoke out of the exist. This has been a headache but now something else is happening. When I start the car oil is coming out of the plenum! I am not talking about a little oil I am talking about a fair amount. This doesn’t look good!! Any suggestions on where this oil is coming from? I am going to try it again tomorrow to make sure it isn’t coming from somewhere else. Incidentally the car runs ok though the idle is higher than normal
Any thoughts?
Tim

hmmm...not sure what is happening, but white smoke has generally meant to me that you are burning coolant and the white smoke is steam....head gasket? - high idle usually means too much air is getting in combustion chamber - so maybe AFM can't operate since there is already too much air going to cylinders that it hasn't metered - i'd try a quick compression test just to see if the cylinders are sealed
