Had a fluid overflow?

Hey guys (somewhat new here) 944 for about 1 month and a 928 for less than 1 day. They were both given to me. I was a BMW guy. 1 question I drove the 1978 928 home to my house about 80 miles last night and it ran fine other that not being able to see the dash lights. No problems it actually ran very strong I guess a lot of work was put into the motor, clutch, exhaust. So that is all up to date the interior needs a little help. (loose carpets/wavy dash/leather ) This morning I drove it a to do a quick errand no farther than 5 miles and when I returned I noticed it leaked some radiator fluid.A decent amount about a circle 12 inches in diameter total. I washed it cleaned it up and took it on the same drive later in the day and nothing -any ideas? Yes there is still fluid in the car I can see it in the overflow. It is not leaking from the radiator itself it seems to be farther back (towards windshield)because I noticed it on a few of the parts down low. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. If you need a photo I can get one tomorrow- it is too dark now.

There's a heater valve located at the base of the windshield and some other components there that contain radiator fluid. Open the hood, remove the air box (top, filter and the bottom part, too) and look for signs of fluid. The heater valve is plastic and prone to failure with age.

The dash lights might not be visible because the dimmer has been turned down. It's easy to hit it by accident. The dial is located on the underside of the bottom of the instrument pod. Otherwise, check your fuses.

Good luck!
