1981 Porsche 928 - Key fits but doesnt open

I locked myself out! I ordered my key from Porsche dealer based on the vin #. Key fits the lock and turns but does not unlock the door, what do you suggest I should do?

The best method I know (and least $$s if something gets damaged) is to pull one of the 1/4 windows and reach in thru there.

I wish there was a 1/4 window, the car is a two door.

No,no, the rear 1/4 window; next to the hatch.

If you (carefully) pull the metal trim from the seal, this willl make the seal a bit flexible. Then the trick is to work the seal/window out of the body opening; I used a couple of flexible putty knives and lots of masking tape to protect the paint. It going to be a bugger of a job, and much worse if the windows ever been replaced using urethane sealer. If you have access to a large suction cup and a spare set of hands, it'll make the job a bit easier by having someone pull on the glass.
I have heard guys claim they've gotten the door open using a slim-jim, but more commonly it's said that they can't be opened that way.

DO NOT USE A SLIM JIM.. you may do lots of harm to the locking mechanism, there is also an anti-theft plate in the door to prevent this... there was a recent thread on Rennlist that shows a tool that can be used for just this type of thing.. can be fashioned with a piece of wire similar to a coat hanger
