True...but when you cast a manifold, it is one piece of metal...full intimate contact. Mild is easier to weld than stainless in terms of warpage...this is why my manifolds are mild...lower alpha and less warpage after welding. The ceramic coating does wonders for the thermal broadcasting and also for oxidation protection. With 2,500 miles on the clock the twin turbo system is performing very well...so well I think I'm ready to add more boost into the equation.

I'm still amazed at how well a simple exhaust manifold works on a turbocharged car.

Anybody ever measure exhaust pressure, at say the throat of the turbo intake?

Oh yeah I agree that mild steel is the way to go especially if you are going to coat it. I was refering to using the stock manifiolds, not fabing all new manifolds. At this point it would be daunting of a task to build a full header style turbo manifold like you did. That is the best way to go but few have the talent and patience to pull off something that nice. I am looking for something I can fab and install without pulling the engine. If I don't use a modified stock manifold, the most I will build will be a log style manifold.

OK guys. Here is the bible of turbo charging. If you are even remotely interested in boosting your car, even wif your buying a kit, this book is a must read. Enjoy. I would save it while its still available.

421...Go twin turbo...I can hook you up with a set of good manifolds...I have the stand engine and the heads...fabrication is just a formality. How about a pair that look like my 32V units, but setup for 16V head ports? A pair of GT series TCs and you are on your way.

That would certainly be the best route to take but I was hoping to do this on a budget. I wish I was going to be in town next week so we could talk in person about it. I'll give you a call soon. I will be traveling for the next week or so.

Cheers
