Relay on Front of Engine?
Not near my car right now so can't take a picture.
On the front of the engine, there looks to be a relay socket? I don't have a relay or anything plugged into it but what is suppose to plugged in? Tough one I know without pictures. I'll get pictures this afternoon but thought I would test your knowledge early. Oh, and I don't have the 928 CD handy either so can't look it up the old fashioned way. Michael

Here's what I'm referring to.
 I'm currently going through the Porsche Manual trying to figure out what it does. Why do I ask? Because my car failed HC. Mechanic will probably figure it out, but if I can get there first, I'm sure it will cost me a lot less. Michael

I beleive that's for the idle adjustment. That port may have other uses too.

It looks like a relay socket. So, does a relay go in it?
What I could read in the manual talks about for adjusting CO. But doesn't say if it's used or not. Does anyone with a 32V engine have a relay plugged into it? Michael

I do have a 32valve engine. There is actually a flap that goes over the port, but in many cases, it gets broken off (mine is barely hanging on). The port is used to adjust idle, and possibly other adjustments as well. Definitely not a relay (besides, that would be a bad place for a relay - heat and jostling; relay wouldn't last long)...

Funny looking port if that's all it is. I guess that's why there was no real mention in the Porsche books about it. Thank you for your comments. Greatly appreciated. Michael

Michael - this item is dealt with on pages 24-204 to 24-206 of the work shop manual (the picture you posted above is from that section of the manual) if you want to read more on it and what it is used for.

Yep. I'm not experienced with setting fuel mixture ratios, adjusting CO, etc. I have the mechanical ability, but zero experience with electronics and computer controls. I know it's not that tough, it just comes down to working with someone who's done it. And, I haven't.
