Short Shifter Early 928 Series

I just installed a 928intl.com short shifter on my '78. I am very happy with the results. The original shifting really felt notchy and took a little effort to get into gears. With the short shifter the effort required to get it into gear is greatly reduced ( requires less pressure ). It is still somewhat notchy though. The height of the shifter is also lowered feeling more modern IMHO. I was not a fan of the long lever and that was the first thing people noticed when they went for a ride. I also added a short MOMO Anatomic knob and MOMO boot. I really like the feel, I will try to post pictures later. If you have a early 5 speed I would suggest this upgrade. It does help the shifting in these early cars.

a grinder and a cutoff wheel would have saved you the 90 bucks----just a little effort on you fabrication skills.

The shifter is not just shorter, the mounting holes to the linkage are different. It reduses the throw which is what makes shifting easier.

yeah i've got a '78 dog leg 5 sp too. The only advantage too the long shifter is if you sit way back like I do with seat reclined, its easier to reach long shifter. Its nice out on a date when I'm driving and being affectionate with my passenger and were both semi reclined. However, I agree ascetically its looks disproportionate to the size of console.

the short shifters available do have different mounting holes, thereby reducing the throw-----you're right.

short of spending the 90 bucks, you can get "nearly" the same affect with a grinder and cutoff wheel by just shortening the OEM shifter.

Maybe that explains my comment a little better?

Why pay $90 as I sell them for all years - 77 to 84 & 85 to later - for $69.95.

ROG100, that is a good price. i wish I had known about it. anything else you sell cheaper? your web site is a little bare bones when it comes to listing what specific parts you sell. i didn't see "short shifters" listed. do you have a catalog?

I sell everything 928 and keep my overheads low. All my customers deal with me by email and phone. There are already two 928 suppliers who deal by web site and I prefer a more personal approach, that way I can offer advice as well.
I have a very large stock of the more regular items and everything else I can get in 24 hours.
My prices are very hard to beat 8>)

I just purchased and recvd' a rather large quantity of parts from Roger. Lots of pieces. Excellent communications. Very professional. Ethical. Very fast. Definitely a solid option to consider.
