Can my a/c condenser be repaired?
Just when I thought my a/c system overhaul on my '88 S4 was complete...my friend's leak detector detects a leak on the bottom metal tube of the condenser (the one that connects to the receiver/dryer)...ultimate buzz kill!
I removed the condenser for closer examination and there is indeed a hole in the curve before receiver/dryer connection point. On a positive note, I see there is a distinct connection point where there tube connects to the condenser body which leaves me with the impression I may be able to replace just this section of damaged tubing. Is there a part # for this component or should I just take my condenser to my mechanic hoping he can fabricate a new section of pipe on there? |

Problem solved! A nice gentleman who has been welding for 51 years fixed the crack in my condensor pipe for only $20. This sure beats paying $675 for a new one or $275 for a used one
