Custom 928 Pics

SORRY.. I know this is a cross post with "rennlist". I thought you guys may want to see my progress.

Now that the major stuff is done around the house I am allowed to get back to the fun projects. THE 928

I finally had a chance to fit on all of the pieces I made to see how it will look on the car. I still have a way to go in finishing the pieces. I made them so they are "bolt on " parts in case they get damaged.

The parts/mods consist of;
..Boxed side rocker panels
..custom front spoiler
..S4 rear hatch and fiberglass S4 spoiler.
..functioning ram air hood
..delet marker lights
..delete side rub strips

What do you guys think so far. Likes and dislikes.....

Hood scoop, bad, very bad. Looks bad, bad functional. The aerodynamics of the car create a high pressure zone at speed just in front of the windshield, no need to channel air from the front, a very discrete raising of the last few inches of the back of the hood will do the job just fine.

I'll wait to comment on the rest until its painted etc.

BTW this is just my opinion, that your doing something you want with your own car I think is great. How about a few closer shots of the motor and air box?

The rear of the duct is open to take advantage of the windshield pressure point. there is also a baffle built into the duch to divide the front and
rear volums of air.

Here is one pic od the paritally assembled motor prior to install. i can upload some others when I get home.

rhjames;

I fully agree with the rennlist thing and some of those guys cross post on this site as well. Too many of thse people just need to " get over themselves ". I have had better conversations with 3rd graders. I have no problem with peoples "opinons" as long as mine is the one that matters. and you are correct that the beauty of my design that it is my design.

To answer some of your comments.
1. yes the scoop leads to the end of the hood and is open in the rear. The rear edge is also angled at the windshield profile but does not run flush to the windshield.
2. the tires in the rear will be wider 275-40-17 and I may also use spaces on the hub to move the wheel out more.
3. the origonal design for the rockers had a small flare behind the wheel but is looked too busy for all of the other stuff going on.
4. I went with the rounded edges on the spoiler more to match the more "rounded " profile of the car. The current pic's really do not show how it all ties in.
5. the opening at the front of the hood is the same pressure point the factory uses to supply the airbox. The function is 2 fold: first to supply fresh pressured air to the intake box and the second to eliminate the air tubes that hide alot of the engine detail.

Thanks for the interest, keep the comment comming. Here are a few more engine pics. I still need to take some better pics.

Braided stuff looks great. Great post! I am too curious on the finished painted up project.

I like your band clamps on the intake. Wish I'd have thought of that for mine. The engine looks sweet. The wheels blow chunks. Too Honda for my taste. It will look way better once you get the stance right. Get it huggin the ground with fat, fat rear tires. Keep posting progress pics. BTW: everryone dances to their own music. Do your own thing and don't sweat it. The nay-sayers will chaqnge their tune when they see the finished car.

I was wondering about those band clamps. I like the look, but Porsche used rubber because the two banks of the motor get wider apart as it heats up, so the clamps may move around.
