Favorite aftermarket wheel on a 928-post your favorite!

Since Todd got the favorite 928 interior thread going, I thought I'd start a favorite aftermarket wheel thread to see if we can get some photos of 928s with aftermarket wheels.

My favorites are Gottis for an OB 928, BBS RS for a 928 S4/GT, and Speedline wheels (like the ones on a 1994 Turbo 3.6) for a the GTS. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics to share though.

use a 19 x 10 boxster rear wheel in the same pattern, or 9" if they have it. An 11" rear will NEVER fit in front unless you put on "hemi 928" front fender flares or something

my favorites are the Fikse FM10's:

Hopefully I will have a pic of them on the car soon. I currently have the same wheel in 17's and not as wide.....

I think that a few people have gotten 10's on the front with mods, but they lost turning radius due to rubbing. Since your car is getting painted if you wanted to work the fenders out a little wider now is the time to do it. I don't know about the OB's but the S4 and later cars are even limited by the splash shields and the lower spoiler. They are both ABS plastic so you can heat them up, and shape them a bit but again I'm not sure on the OB's.

My favorite is of course my Kinesis K28Rs in their one of a kind smoke chrome finish I get asked all the time about them. Even the non 928 guys in my local PCA drool over them. Thats one way to get the 928 some credibility with the non 928 Pcar owners, have nicer wheels than they have!

Sterling...you're gonna be busy keeping those gems polished! Are they clear coated or naked? Look really nice...I could use more tire under my car for sure. Are these from DR?

I have the same wheels as Shane shows above...I think I paid $800 for them. Thay have been great thus far. I didn't want 18", but no 17" were available in the width I wanted so 18" I went! I had considered the units Russ shows as well...I think those were 19", right Russ?

John,
The centers are clear coated.... but the outer rims are polished. I have another set that is 8 years old and never been polished... they still look really good....

I guess you just have to keep them clean then. Nothing looks like polished aluminum. I like the 5-spoke on my car because they are super easy to clean. It's amazing how dated these cars look with the factory wheels, any of them.

Classic and original, it all kind of depends on what you see most.

to make them work you must remove the inner panels (both front and rear) and then fashion some sort of fender extension to cover the 1 3/4" of tire/wheel hanging outside the fender. they will only rub on the tie rod when turned extreme right/left, but that may not be a big deal on a track car.

The Jap car front flares may be enough to cover the excess. Not that I would.....

It was just a test fit for the fun of it---

Yeah, thanks boss, Isn't that what i said? Reality is you can make ANYTHING fit.

hey you could add the flares and put "police interceptor" on it or "Hemi" or something cool like that THAT WOULD BE DOPE YO!

Being a bit of a purist, I currently have the Cup II or 993 wheels on my 928. What would I put on the car if they existed? 17 inch phone dials! That is THE 928 wheel in my opinion! Since they never made a PD in that size, it would have to be a $5000 custom set.

-I'm slowly but surely becoming partial to HRE's wheels, though I certainly cannot afford them yet!

N!

I like Shane and Russ's Wheels. I think there is such a thing as an over-styled line of wheels. I like clean and basic styled.

To me, nothing looks as good on a 928 as PDs, and IMO, the 17" and 18" and 19" rims people slap onto 928s look progressively more garish as the size is increased. It amazes me these people havn't slapped spinner rims on their Sharks, cause they're "Da bomb."

IMO anyone putting a 19" rim on a 928 should be shot for defacing a work of art. That's like giving a statue of aphrodite a boob job.
