Does Primer Flex?

Not being a Paint Pro, does Primer Flex? I know Flex Agent needs to be added to Paint for our Bumpers, but what about the Primer?

Leo

I don't think there is a general answer, you just have to do what your specific brand and type of paint require. All I know for sure is to shake the can for a minute after you hear the ball bearing clanking around.

There are flexible primers available for use on bumpers. Here's an example:

You do not what to use SEM that is laquer primer you need a 2 part primer withe flex additive. If you use SEM it will just crack and fall off in less than a year.

That is laquer primer no good will not last a year on the car. You need a 2 part primer like DP 26,27,25 (BASF) Or Dupont 7704s,7701s,7707s or Spies Hecker 5400 primers with flex additive in all of them.

Hi Sonnett,

Just curious, but where does it say it's laquer. I just looked up the MSDS and I didn't see any reference to laquer. Sorry, super noob to types of paints.

If you look close where you may buy the SEM products, they do sell some 2K primers in a can. The cost is high $15.00 I use it when I am doing small jobs or blocking a fender and do not want the bare metal showing before I prime the entire car.
