Funny how one word changes everything.
Junkyard on the back of a Pontiac Grand AM? Something like that I think fits. |

I know there is one here in San Diego that sells Fiberglass S4 wings for under $300. I'm getting one as soon as I get my car running.

How difficult is it to remove the stock rear spoiler's 3 parts and install the S4 one? is rear window trim different??

the side pcs are bolted/screwed to tabs under the seal, with one screwed to the inside of the hatch channel. the furthest forward tab is sometimes glued on, or pop rivetted on. the rear (middle) tab is screwed and pop rivetted on. removal of these tabs will leave holes---you can imagine what has to be done to fix this. the hatch piece is no big deal to remove. first remove the upholstery under the hatch, and you will see the nuts that hold the spoiler on. the spoiler hatch trim is just one piece across the top of the window, the non-spoiler trim is several pieces to go completely around the hatch window. installing the S4 wing is somewhat tricky, as there is not much room under the hatch lip to attach nuts onto the wing studs (after you drill the holes in the hatch). You could remove the studs from the wing, and use hex head bolts (screwed into the wing from underneath) to gain some clearance.....this is how I attached my S4 wing onto my original hatch. purchasing an S4 hatch may be a better solution for you--they are out there at reasonable pricing.....some S4/GT/GTS owners are now going wingless, so ask around....you might be able to score one relatively cheap. --Russ |
