Cheap rubber vibration isolators

Just for yucks after talking about them in the other thread I did some searching, how does 58 cents each sound?

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/5XK63

These look too long, but maybe a good generic part is out there?

"Vibration isolator" seems like the right keyword.

*** I know these are on clearance, but Graingers isn't a cheap supplier, so who knows what it may sell for other places or in quantity. ***

shame, shame! putting non-genuine parts into your baby...
actually this is a pretty cool idea (i think the ones installed are M6 though) but this does identify a manufacturer

My second plan "B" is to hit a local VW dealer, thinking it looks like all german cars must use these things..i also have a local "foreign" car parts place that i get lucky at sometimes (they have the braided vacuum hose..made in Germany!)

Plan "C" is just wait it out, because some of the other parts i ordered are also on backorder, and i would hate to throw away ~$18 for being impatient! (unless of course i can corner the market on these doo-dads)

I also spent a lot of time trying to find a replacement for the two different types of buffer used at the TB on the 85 to 86 cars. Like you I found parts that looked good but the key driver after the height of the buffer and stud size was the OD of the rubber portion. In every case it was to big to fit in the recess provided to accomadate it.
You could for a one off application spend time reducing the diameter, however in my case for multiple quantities the labor was to expensive and the buffer would end up being way more than the $5 it is from Porsche.

Here is an incentive for the 928 110 191 00.
I just checked on my orders with Porsche NA and they have 30 in Atlanta (not backordered on Germany) and they just increased the price by 50%. My selling price is now $7.50.
I have 8 arriving today and more to follow. So part will be in stock today if needed. I still have one at the old price.

How about using a stud with a slide over section of rubber, donut, tube, bit of hose, as the isolator? Some nice thick wall silicone might work?
