Early OB 928 with a/c delete

Have any of you ever owned a 1978-1979 928 that didn't come equipped with a/c from the factory? Were a/c delete cars restricted to the European markets? I imagine an a/c delete car has a fairly simple HVAC system. I am considering adding one of these to my stable and would enjoy hearing ownership experiences (both positive and negative) on these early cars. I currently have an '88 S4 so I imagine a 78-79 is pleasantly simple compared to an S4, but I could be wrong. I would also enjoy any advice on what problems that are specific to a 1978-1979 models I should look out for when doing a PPI.

78/79 when running well like ALL 928's are pleasantly simple, but I suspect the less complicated nature of early cars which extends a few years beyond 1979 is more than compensated for by the vacuum controls and CIS. Parts and expertise are more rare than the cars.

Like any 928 PPI, check everything, and never assume minor seeming problems have minor fixes. Sitting for any length of time is bad for CIS.

Good luck.

ac was an option on early RoW cars, climate doesn't demand it like here in the US
78 and 79 hvac have diff control heads, early 78 RoW is completely vacuum controlled
adding ac to an early car could run you some $$$$ when you start adding up all the parts

OP may have been thinking of how rare it would be to own a 928 without AC.
