Rear wiper blowing fuse - what could be wrong?

Next project: Getting the rear wiper going again.

When I try the rear wiper, the fuse blows.

If I disconnect the motor, I I hear the relay click OK.

I'm leaning towards the motor being shot, but how can I check? I have basic tools like voltmeter etc. nothing really special.

Any ideas?

I'd say the short answer is the right one, you have a wire that has rubbed against some metal edge until the insulation is worn through and the wire is shorted to the metal. Disconnect the battery and use an ohmmeter to trace the wires and find the short.
