My compression test.
T1 T2
Cyl. 1--130-140 Cyl. 2--150-150 Cyl. 3--120-120 Cyl. 4--175-180 Cyl. 5--170-175 Cyl. 6--150-155 Cyl. 7--170-175 Cyl. 8--175-175 Ran two tests, 1st test regular, 2nd test with a few drops of oil. |
Looks like some leakdown issues. All should be within 10% of the median amount. #1 and 3 are too low. Are you sure you had both valves closed with each test?

I followed rhjames's directions to the T. At least I think this was the concept.
Unplug all spark plug wires, pull all spark plugs, screw compression device into first hole, then cycle the engine 8-9 rotations. I went from #8 to #1 then with the oil test #1 to #8. |
Russ, call me real quick.

it's my standard "old skol" compression test.
not a leakdown test. for that, you need a compressor and fittings and blah, blah........or one of those fancy leakdown testers.....;) anyway, as I suggested, you can try the chemical remedies for the bad cylinders, or do what I just did and tear it out and strip it. you really have 4 that aren't getting it done--1, 2, 3, and 6. could be stuck rings as we discussed, or worse. We'll discuss that tomorrow when I get down to your place......:D --Russ |
