Porsche Crest My compression test.

T1 T2
Cyl. 1--130-140

Cyl. 2--150-150

Cyl. 3--120-120

Cyl. 4--175-180

Cyl. 5--170-175

Cyl. 6--150-155

Cyl. 7--170-175

Cyl. 8--175-175

Ran two tests, 1st test regular, 2nd test with a few drops of oil.

Looks like some leakdown issues. All should be within 10% of the median amount. #1 and 3 are too low. Are you sure you had both valves closed with each test?

I followed rhjames's directions to the T. At least I think this was the concept.

Unplug all spark plug wires, pull all spark plugs, screw compression device into first hole, then cycle the engine 8-9 rotations. I went from #8 to #1 then with the oil test #1 to #8.

it's my standard "old skol" compression test.

not a leakdown test. for that, you need a compressor and fittings and blah, blah........or one of those fancy leakdown testers.....

anyway, as I suggested, you can try the chemical remedies for the bad cylinders, or do what I just did and tear it out and strip it.

you really have 4 that aren't getting it done--1, 2, 3, and 6.

could be stuck rings as we discussed, or worse.

We'll discuss that tomorrow when I get down to your place......
