Massive 928 burn out picts

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be cool at some event to arrange the largest number of 928's all doing a burn out at the same time?

All in a row, or maybe line up and burn outs one after another.

Ok, maybe too juvenile.

Childish..but fun. I think it would be cool.

The couple times I have really lit them up folks were real surprised. Although they expected a Porsche of any kind to be fast, they didn't expect the muscle car burn out.

Could be fun, but I would have to watch from the side-lines. Mine will not burn out.

My stock 83 5 spd will do maybe 20 feet, the 85 Euro is more "flexible" .

One of the Mustang videos I like has a bunch of cars lined up at a stop with the camera across the street, and one by one they turn onto the main road and floor it.

Run the lines for your windshield washers to the back tires, then you can really put on a smoke show.

I am in a local Euro car club and we meet every Wed. A few weeks ago we had an impromptu burnout contest. It was a BMW M3 VS a Maserati Cambiocorsa Coupe VS my 84 928. I pwnd them both. Now I need a new tire.

My 84 5 speed certainly has the power to spin them, but it will knock your teeth out with the axle tramp.

The getting sideways thing did concern me, one after another would still be really cool.

I'll link the Mustang video if I can find it.

Okay, I'll be the wet blanket. Don't know that its because I grew up poor or just plain had to work hard for my money as a kid. Not sure that not hooking up can be a good thing. When drifting hit the scene a few years back I was initially enthused and watched a bit of it and knew some hot drifters from the Japan scene. However, here in the Middle East I have seen some really idiotic drifting events both sanctioned and non sanctioned and have come to the conclusion that it is less than a waste.

I love GP motorcycling, but watching the victor burnout totally turns me off. Machinery should be respected but its things like Pedro Rodriguez's gentle handling of a fragile shift linkage that let him finish a major race and outlast the faster Ferraris to get a win. There's no need far all that stinky smoke and destructive noise! I still hate paying for new tires!

All that said, I did burn out once in my 1980 928 5 speed on Ventura Boulevard way out past Woodland Hills. My view was obstructed and upon pulling out I was confronted with on coming traffic that would have been a collision had I not punched it and dumped the clutch. Frankly I was embarrassed by my behavior but a collision was avoided.

My first car was a 33 Ford 3 window coupe with a tripower olds v8. I had a 455 Firebird 4 speed, a 500 + horsepower Corvette and did not engage in dumping the clutch. Fast acceleration and hard corners YES! Smokin the tires? Only when I wasn't skilled enough to hook them up or needed the power to get out of a tight spot. Loud exhausts, well... I still haven't grown up. Sorry if it was your alarm my Borla set off.
