Interior help....please

I am trying to work on smaller interior projects while waiting for my shark to arrive from the paint shop..It feels like it has been there forever. Currently i am trying to reconfigure the dash center console to incorporate a 6" nav. screen in addition to the radio and heater control. Without the car I need to make a jig that will hold the console in the propper position. The measurements I am looking for are noted below. Please see attached pic as a point of reference. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance, DAVID

1.from the top edge where the dash meets the center console down to the top of the drivetrain tunnel.

2. from the top lower edge of the ashtray opening where it the top of the drivetrain tunnel

Isn't the hump under the center console relatively flat (besides some wiring). Just lay your console on a flat surface and take your measurements.

That wouldn't work as the sides of the console curve up off of the trans tunnel and towards the dash. Someone with the center console mounted, but with no AC/Stereo, etc will need to take the measurements.

Argh. I just put one back together after replacing vacuum actuators and a new head unit and would have been glad to measure.
That may not have been much help anyway, if you're fitting something bigger than the standard size head unit you just have to have the whole car there.
So what are you fitting? I could post some pics I took if that helps.

Someone on Rennlist put I think a VW nav panel in, and thats the nicest I've seen.

Screwing with the console isn't something I think that works without a comprehensive redesign, with most changes looking very tacked on instead of integrated.
