MoMo shifter removal
I have a problem I need help with. I want to remove the momo automatic shifter in the 928 I bought several weeks ago. I do not see any set screws or attachments. I don't think it is screwed on. I am at a real disadvantage by not seeing it assembled from the start. I would love to hear from someone who has installed a shifter like this. Release button is on top.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/MISC/POR_MISC_moknob_pg1.htm Thank you for your help. I want to restore the shifter boot and area to factory stock.

I kinda like that Momo Shifters look. Do you want to sell it after you get it off? I may be interested if it's not damaged in the removal process.

Momo shifter
I would like to replace the factory boot, faceplate and trim. The momo leather boot covers everything and has no provision for an indicator for the gear. I bought this car for my wife so she would stay out of mine. I am working my way through the car . I may use the shifter handle but if not I will offer it to MPDano first. Thank you for your answers as I will try that right now. This web site rules!!

What part is missing under the Momo Boot? I have the whole meal deal but it's from my 81 and shows its age. I guess maybe take a pic once you can lift the boot up and we can tell you what you need.

Shifter
I just came back in and pinto wins the prize ! bottom chrome piece unscrews and there are three hidden set screws. Pulled right off. I am 6'2 - 250lbs and am always careful because it is so easy to break things you are taking apart. Ask first / Break later !
The Momo unit had a plastic frame covered in leather. Shift boot and foam rubber inserts to give stand-up shape. I will dig and see what replacement parts I have packed away tomorrow afternoon. This is starting to look like a FrankenPorsche from start to Finish - Thanks for all the help guys ![]()

just did the same for my car an 86s it came with the momo shifter tried tp pull it out then played with it till i figured the screws cant remeber if it was an allen wrench type but then it slid off, the easy part, now here was the rough and expensive part finding the shifter plate and shifter, the early shifter i think bellow 84 or 83 was different from 85 to 94 be carefull or it would look like my frankenporsche, found a shifter 200.00 at 928 international wheels. and that was used, found another on ebay 80 from canada better condition but because of the age if you buy it used make sure you get the 2 philip head screws that fit on the shifter, otherwise the plastic is brittle and whill shater when you over tighten a new handle is 400.00 thats why the cheap replacemnt is a momo

I found two AT shift handles going through my "stuff" the other day, both look pretty decent, but I haven't given them the close eye ball yet, one with and one without the plastic ring at the base.
