Reverse lights on...

Hello Guys,

I have a 1987 928 S4. My reverse lights remain on even when I'm in D. The car has an auto trans.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks.

Sprint.

Check the back up light switch to make sure it is not stuck. If it checks out fine, check the relay in the panel and see if is is stuck. I mostly find the switch to be at fault, but have had a relay or two, and a ground wire cause this same issue.

Hope this helps

Mine does a similar thing. But in drive D it manages to stay off. Then if I cycle the trans from R to P it will shut off in P. Otherwise it will remain on.

I did find a faulty relay... because they were never on at first. I replaced it and bingo I thought they are on... Whoops... they are on almost all the time now.

I think I will go back into the relay board and make sure the ground is properly connecting.

Any idea where the back up switch is? Or is it part of a PRND2 switch under the shifter area?
