Enjoyed my '83 928...sold it two days ago. I would go with the 930 if you want a race car/non daily driver. If you are going to use daily, the 928 might be the solution. Great for long drives.
My .02C!! Good luck in the choice. Mat

I'd take the 930.
In fact if you don't want it and it's available let me know I may buy it...of course I'll be keeping my 928 either way. |

Not enough information.
Trading your 928 for his 930, straight up, plus cash, what? What shape is the 930 in? As I understand it turbo's need periodic rebuilding. 76 930 is nothing like your 82 Euro S 928, as mentioned not exactly a daily driver. Either car would be a blast to own, why not have both? |

Oooh, that's a nice 930. My ex's dad had a 930 Turbo that looked exactly like that. I remember it sounded like s^%$ though, he also said it needed a turbo.

Whats the point of comparing a car you own to one you don't have the cash for?
Pristine to me means looking over a car closely, end to end, top to bottom, and on a lift you find no signs of wear or dirt, and its not just clean, but looks like it has never been otherwise, ie no signs of cleaning or fake shine, just reeking of being new and perfect. Is a pristine daily driver what you want? |

What???????? That's sounds a bit far fetched... The next time I sell a car, I'm going to say I let the air out of the tires every night to keep the tires like new...

If that many "rubber bits" were falling off the car so often he couldn't keep track of them, the P.O. must not have taken care of it. This guy may have pampered it, but if fifteen teenagers before him trashed the car, it's only going to be that good.
Personally, I would take it. But that's just my opinion. I also have two non running Porsche's so my opinion means nothing right now... |

Oh, what's that thing next to your garbage can? Is it some type of home air filtration?

Oh, that's good. Did he put a rebuilt/new/low mileage unrebuilt motor in it?

930s are awesome cars, but I would never recommend using any 930 as a daily driver as they do not fare well in traffic (overheating) and because they accelerate slower than a regular 911 (will seem as slow as a Honda Civic) when driving at posted speed limits in town. IOW, the 930 isn't that fun until you get it on a country road or highway where you can spread its wings.
Another important thing to consider before buying a 930 is that they are labor-intensive cars (i.e. have to remove the intercooler anytime you want to work on them) and parts are VERY expensive. Unless you can afford to spend $5-8K on unexpected repairs at all times and aren't bothered by the possibility of frequently having your car down for days at a time during repairs, I don't think a 930 is the right car for you. |

Smile and listen to what the previous owner tells you, but don't pay too much attention. Same as the 928 a 930 is a car that needs a professional inspection.

A 930 would be an adrenalin rush, but if there is a car that could be more of a headache than a 928 would be a 930.
PPI, PPI, PPI. What you don't know CAN hurt you. |
