sounds like a nice car some pictures would help.
The Euro has a higher HP engine, it has an early LH system and also twin distributor , ( the dizzys are belt driven so this is something that you should replace every couple of years , its easy to do) The engine makes310 HP the US version same year 288 hp
engine code is
M28/22 = Auto 4 speed
M28/21 =5 speed

Parts are easy to get and you wont have much to do besides timing belt changes and possibly water pumps, if the car is taken care of it will provide a lot of enjoyment

I think its a bit of a wash, US vs Euro for an 85 928, with the deciding factor how much you like the basic car, not which market it was built for.

All 85/86 models have some parts difficulties, most troublesome are air filter boxes and intake tubes both of which I think are no longer available from Porsche.

A Euro in Canada likely would require a costly import process before it could be sold in the US, which reduces the market value.

Take the 310 hp vs 288 hp with a grain of salt, 310 was as equipped in Europe without cats, and many common simple changes greatly enhance the performance and power of the US model beyond 288 hp, so the Euro "might" be slightly faster stock, good chance with minor changes the US model is the fastest.

Both are interference engines, but the Euro is simpler.

That was my assumption, as long as it stays in Canada it makes no difference, but not being able to sell it in the US does reduce the value.
