Ahdesive for Headliner Material?

If you have been following my posts in the past. I re-vinyled my headliner and used 3M 90 to adhesive it to the headliner board. Well, that lasted about a month and the vinyl has separated from the headliner and is now sagging. What do the pros use to hold material onto the headliner?

I bought a small can of 3M headliner adhesive at Walmart or Pepboys, but the label isn't still on it (comes off to show instructions under it).

This might be the current product, 3M Super Trim Adhesive, yellow 08090.

Yup, that's the stuff I just picked up at the Auto Paint Supply store. Will give it a try and report back.

Permatex Headliner Adhesive, comes in a spray can just like the 3m but stands up better to the heat IMHO

Ok guys, I ended up using the 3M Super Trim adhesive and decided to not mount it just yet. I gave it a few days in my garage and it's already starting to peel off. I have a feeling that it doesn't like the vinyl that is still on the headliner. Should the old headliner be stripped off first. It looks like it's on there good.

Yeah, I'd bet that if you're trying to cover the old vinyl with new vinyl you're going to have problems getting it to stick. The vinyl's going to be naturally pretty slick and god only knows what it's been treated with over the years that you'll now never get out of the pores to get proper adhesion. I've used the 3M 90 on all of my panels so far with zero issues (knock on wood) but I've always removed the old vinyl and cleaned the surface to be glued.

3m super trim adhesive 20 bucks a can too would think its the next strength seems all it does is spray out crazy and dry quicker still wont take to the old vinyl a quarter panel has shrinking pulled away from its edge between quarter window fixed it once while panel was out now its a b**** too get a pull on it wrap the edge get fingers in behind and lucky if i can spray one side forget a layer application to both sides and for it not to stay i did rough sandpaper surface and back of cloth to try to get some napp on it and acetone clean all surfaces, failure on that one know all messed up again with more glue. installed and still needs fix.

Once the vinyl shrinks, there is no stretching to fix it, just new vinyl.

What kind of adhesive really works with different materials seems a bit of a art, so I am thinking about letting somebody else do it, but maybe not. Could be the "art" is messing up enough times until somehow you get lucky?

I have a trigger thing for spray cans. Clips on and saves fingers from goop and wear and tear.

I don't like bonus screws in my trim, just use some new material.
