Pictures from OCIC '09: what a blast!

I'm sure others will chime in on this, but we (wife & I) had a blast. Finished the FMIC Friday am, drove up friday at lunch, had a blast. Met Louie Ott & his wife, Mark Anderson, Darien Nunn for the first time, Shawn Hamilton, Mark White (again, it's been years), Rich(ard) James (*****!), Chuck Schrieber, Paul & Linda Champagne, Mason, & plenty more others, including a few who flew in from Australia! Wow. Louie's car managed ~598rwhp-ish, & Darien pulled 475/510rw if I'm not mistaken: we were stuck in Dallas traffic & getting lost during the dyno event. I'm pleased to have one 3rd in the street concours & 2nd place People's Choice, though shocked Sterling's fine ride didn't beat me out (sorry bro, I think your ride is the shizzle too). Here are a few pictures. Mark

I got 3rd place street concours & 2nd place people's choice: I couldn't be more thrilled, yet, I think Sterling should have received that award. Mark

What does OCIC stand for and where was it located? Was there a large gathering? Great pics BTW.

Owners Club International Convention, in Arlington Convention center, next to (Texas) Ranger Stadium. We had about 60-70 cars & about 2.5 more people than cars: it was a LOT of fun, & air conditioned! Mark

Not this time, I finished up the IC Friday morning & my BOV was wrong, so I wasn't able to give ride-alongs this time. I gave about 8 ride-alongs back to back in March at a 928 gathering: my brakes were stinky!!

No way: I'm honored. Seriously, I was honored to meet you, Mark Anderson, Louie, Jason, etc: Many of the others I already knew. I was running on both very little sleep & "entertain-the-wife" mode, so my apologies for not sitting you down & shaking hands longer. I'm internally bruised from all the "tune your car" prodding I received & have started...but that's another thread/email. Like the ass-shot of your car?? Mark

BTW: why do 1/2 the 928'ers say "Darren" & not Darien? is your "i" silent? Mark

Ha, that's another story ...my name is pronounced Darren but it's spelled Darien. I know, it's been a pain to politely correct folks all these years. But those who know me, know my name. Any shot's of my engine? I know it's not as pretty as some (yours), but Tony and I put a lot of work into it.

My wife was sent to photograph most everything, pointing out the most interesting cars to her, but I think she got distracted. I've only posted about 1/3 of the photos I took, so I'll look tonight. BTW: how'd you get your BEGI unit mounted horizontally? Looks clean: I got fed-up with mine, wasn't working right, even after a rebuild & such: It kept spiking to full fuel pressure w/o responding to any ratio adjustments.

Mark, your car looked great! Getting a people's choice award IMHO trumps any Concours trophy! Louie would have been VERY hard to beat too! I think he was 1st in peoples choice... Great time! Great folks! Todd, you should have been there brother! | ||

I had a great time at the OCIC as well. It was a little intimidating with Mark's gorgeous 86.5 Turbo on my left and Louie's monster on my right. Here a few shots I took, trying not to repeat cars already shown: | ||

Here are more photos from my limited library Way too many great looking 928's there. I thought my wife was taking photos, she thought i was taking photos, so not too many photos (sorry Darien, no engine-bay, but I'm sure someone will chime in & offer their photos) Mark
